Dadar is one of the most densely populated regions of Mumbai as it connects the western and central part of the city through its railway station. Along with being populated, it is also home to some of the best joints serving delicious Maharashtrian foods. Here is a list of joints and dishes that we recommend.
You can also watch this video to see all the dishes, making and cost.
Azad Jumbo Vada Pav
Located in the crowded area near Dadar station, Azad Vada Pav serves one of the best schezwan cheese vada pavs we have had in Mumbai. The vadas are crispy and fried perfectly with pavs cooked on a tava with a dollop of butter. They have a bunch of varieties that you could try from their menu but a cheese schezwan vada pav is our top pick.
Misal Pav At Adarsha
One of the things that came off as different and amusing to us were the two varieties of Misals at Adarsha. One is the regular spicy Puneri misal and other is the Adarsha Misal. The difference between these two is the spice level and the number of sprouts used. Adarsha Misal is flavourful, packed with a bunch of sprouts and our absolute favourite. not like your regular misal but it’s worth giving a try.
We also recommend trying the Kothimbir Vadi at Adarsh.
Sabudana Vada At Prakash
Prakash is a favourite of locals as it comes very close to making the finest Maharashtrian dishes for years. We highly recommend the Sabudana Vada and Thalipeeth here. Crispy Sabudana vadas accompanied with a coconut chutney make for a delectable evening snack
Dev’s Momo Hut
Dev’s Momo Hut is one of our favourite street food momo joints in Mumbai. They might not have a variety of momos on their cart (and menu) but they ace the ones they make. This joint is always crowded and usually runs out of their momos soon after they open. Make sure you bookmark this place and go there as soon as it opens
Sandwiches At Tasty Corner
A list of the best food of a part of this city is incomplete without adding a Mumbai style sandwich. There are a bunch of good joints in Dadar serving sandwiches but this one is our top recommendation. The cheese chilli sandwich here is prepared fresh and hot right in front of you served with their delicious coriander chutney.
Apsara Ice Creams
Apsara is a very popular ice cream chain that has brands all over Mumbai. One of the reasons Apsara stands out is the variety of flavours it serves. From pani puri to imli, it serves the flavours that you might not even imagine. We recommend their pani puri ice cream which tastes like a tangy plate of pani puri in the form of an ice cream.
Mawa Cake At Merwans
Merwans is a very popular chain of a bakery in Mumbai serving fresh and deliciously baked mawa cakes. While their regular mawa cakes are quite popular, we loved their cashew mawa cake equally.
These are our top picks for the best street food in Dadar. What are yours? Let us know in the comments below.
